Business migration to Queensland, Australia

Business owners, senior executives or investors who wish to settle in Queensland are eligible to apply for State Sponsorship if they will become owners or operators of a business or invest funds in Queensland.

Obtaining a State Sponsored visa is a two-stage process and applicants need to meet specific criteria at each stage.

The following visas are available to business migrants to make the move to Queensland:

  • Business Owner (Provisional) visa subclass 163
  • Senior Executive (Provisional) visa subclass 164
  • Business Investor (Provisional) visa subclass 165

The following visas offer a pathway to permanent residency following a provisional visa:

  • Business Talent (Residence) visa subclass 132
  • Business Owner (Residence) visa subclass 892
  • Investor (Residence) visa subclass 893
  • Regional Established Business (Residence) visa subclass 846

The business migration visa comparison table provides a brief overview of these visa types.

Please note that the Queensland Government provides nominations to business migrants who are assessed as likely to provide a clear benefit to the Queensland economy, based on current economic conditions. Correctly completing an application does not guarantee nomination by the Queensland Government.
