Queensland's regions and Australia as a whole have skills shortages in a wide variety of occupations. The diverse economy and sustained growth of Queensland's regions have led to a demand for major infrastructure projects across the State.

To address these skills in demand, there are a number of skilled visas available to skilled workers wishing to relocate to Queensland.

Of these, the Skilled Sponsored and Skilled Regional Sponsored visas apply only to occupations included on the eligible skills lists. These visas are sponsored by the Queensland Government.

If your skill is not on the eligible skills list, you do not qualify for nomination from the Queensland Government and you must find an employer to sponsor you under one of the employer sponsored categories.

Alternatively, you may choose to apply for one of the Australian Government's independent or graduate visas, which are listed at the Department of Immigration and Citizenship.

If you are already living in Australia and looking for work, see the How to find jobs in Queensland section of our web site.
