Eligible skills for the permanent residence visaOn Monday 8 February 2010, the Minister for Immigration and Citizenship, Senator Chris Evans, announced changes to the Australian Government Migration Program. Australian Government Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) eligibility is a condition of Queensland nomination to a Skilled Sponsored or Skilled Regional Sponsored visa and other sponsored visas. To apply for nomination, applicants must meet all requirements for their nominated occupation. Changes to English language requirements by various assessing bodies were updated on these pages in November 2009. Please be aware that those organisations' requirements are mandatory. Applicants must meet the occupational requirements as set out on these pages to apply for state nomination. Please note: the Queensland Government now requires all visa applicants for the Skilled Sponsored (Migrant) Visa (Subclass 176) to have a minimum of one year's relevant industry experience or more where specified.
